To the editor:

To the volunteer firefighters of Whidbey Island, we want to thank the great bunch who responded to our call last Saturday. We had smoke building up in our home and the alarms were going off. I called 911 and help was here in no time.

What a relief that they were so prompt and efficient. They were worried about getting our carpet dirty, so put down drop cloths.

I told them that a carpet wouldn’t be my big problem if my house burned down.

We cannot praise them enough, and to think that they came so fast and on their Saturday off. It is a relief to know that we have these great guys.
