LETTER TO THE EDITOR | We are so grateful

To the editor:

I would like to express gratitude for the recent, amazing “Mother of All Garage Sales” fundraising event on behalf of our family. It was organized so lovingly by many families of the Waldorf School to lend support to our family during a challenging time. My husband, Pat, suffered a traumatic brain injury at our home in early April which was described in a South Whidbey Record front-page article on Aug. 29. Many thanks to the Record for the thorough, supportive and thoughtful article.

Nearly $5,000 was donated to our donation fund and a heartwarming coming together of dozens of folks pulled this event off. The greater community was very supportive of it because of the great publicity, and because so many people in our community care and are so generous and willing to lend a hand.

I would like to offer this wonderful description of the generosity that our family has experienced so wholeheartedly the past five months in so many ways, from fundraisers, donations, delivering meals to us, caring for the girls, helping with so many things with our house, sitting with and caring for Pat, and all of the generous and heartfelt offers all of the time to help us however we need and for the long term.

I thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts.

“Generosity enacts the

quality of non-greed; it is

willingness to give, to share, to let go. We are inspired to give because of loving feeling, and in the act of giving we feel more love.”

— Joseph Goldstein.

With deep love and gratitude,

Kris (and Pat, Jaime and Sarah) Rodden
