Editor,

Combining a glorious display of her art works with an intellectually and emotionally inspiring play, Piper Reva produced a truly amazing evening show with “Wizards of Weepy Isle.”

With a storyline which is on the one hand intimately personal — her own journey to and discovery of the magic of this island — with universal human experiences, feelings, and truths, all together created for the audience a state of benevolence, satisfaction, and psychological purification. Was it all magic?

The imaginative staging included a shipwreck from an unknown beach, a video hookup from a faraway realm to the Wizards, a real, old-time school desk for the Leopard Mouse from who knows where, and even a student of French from the Northwest Academy of Languages recruited to disperse the programs.

The two youngsters, Kiah (Cloud Girl) and Isaiah (Lightning Boy) were a marvelous counterpoint to the Wizards. The various storylines were integrated in an entrancing manner indeed, as well as complementing the ethereal songs of our favorite singer.

Now, will the real Piper stand up? Yes, they are all the real Piper. And fortunately she was not lost at sea, but survived the wreck and is with us both in person and in our minds and hearts forever.

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is to be thanked and admired for providing her with the space as well as considerable backup help with the whole production. VIVA WICA.

It will be great to see more of Piper Reva’s productions in the future. Winot?
