LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Wonn Road belongs to all of us

Editor, I read the Jan. 13 front page story, “Battle for Wonn Road may end with settlement” and I’m so upset about this whole thing. It should never have been an issue. What the Montgomerys are doing is wrong. That wall should come down. Wonn Road belongs to the people of the island — we pay taxes to maintain it and to clear bushes from both sides of the road.

Editor,

I read the Jan.

That we, the people, can’t drive to the end of it is wrong. My grandson and I were driving down Wonn Road to walk the beach when a woman said she owns the road and the tide lands. I told her “I’m a taxpayer and I can come down this road if I want. It’s on the map.”

Shame on Island County Commissioner Jill Johnson; she is not for the people of Greenbank. If the Montgomerys own the road then the taxpayers of Greenbank should be reimbursed years of taxes for the upkeep of Wonn Road.

How can someone wheel and deal land for a county road? I guess money talks.
