The cornerstones of our democracy are being undermined, and we are experiencing the ballooning failure of our government to serve all of us. The urgency of this moment cannot be overstated.

I am supporting Elizabeth Warren for president because I believe she has the skills, the experience, the intelligence, the compassion and the integrity we sorely need now. She knows how to build coalitions, seek common ground and get things done. Example: thanks to Elizabeth’s vision and persistence in establishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, $12 billion was returned to 29 million customers.

Warren knows how to make change when it comes to making government accountable to and work for all Americans.

She will choose: a running mate who will be a partner in her fight to strengthen our democracy and make government work for all Americans; a secretary of education who has been a public school teacher and who believes public funds should be used for public education; an Environmental Protection Agency administrator who believes in science; a secretary of defense who has not been a lobbyist for defense contractors; an attorney general who believes in the rule of law.

She will fight to close the revolving door between public officials and lobbyists for powerful corporations who block real change that would improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

She has plans for fighting corruption in our government and returning power to the people.

She believes in equal justice, unions, worker protections, environmental protections and environmental justice. Our trading partners should incorporate these principles before having access to our markets.

She believes that our values are our strength.

She believes the climate crisis is an emergency and plans to invest heavily in the innovations that are necessary to mitigate this emergency, thereby creating “green” jobs here in the U.S.

I believe our elections are influenced by voter suppression, gerrymandering, a proliferation of disinformation and distorted campaign financing. It is therefore imperative that we turn out in record numbers to vote our conscience and win, despite these obstacles.
