Letter Willeford has the drive to make an impact

Editor,

Last spring, as the result of a multitude of issues that were identified that need improvement within South Whidbey Schools, a grassroots group was formed, South Whidbey Community and Parents for Change. We are a group comprised of parents, grandparents, working professionals, community members, teachers, staff members and experts in a variety of fields.

We have put the needs of our kids at the forefront. Issues currently exist in our district from bullying to maintenance, communication to school culture. These concerning issues have been present for nearly a decade.

Multiple community conversations occurred last spring between school administration and the community due to the sheer number of concerns voiced. While there are good things happening in the district, there is still a need for significant improvement and identified changes need to be implemented.

We believe strongly that a fresh set of eyes is needed on the South Whidbey School Board to effectively tackle the myriad issues that threaten the quality of education for our kids.

We are voting for Brook Willeford in this current election. Over the past year, Brook has attended countless school board meetings, community meetings, coffee hours with the superintendent and made himself available to hear the concerns and perspective of students, parents, teachers and community members. Brook has the drive and creative problem-solving skills to make a positive impact for our kids. He has demonstrated a willingness and desire to be present and listen to the many voices in the South Whidbey School District. The time is now to create a more meaningful school experience for our children. Vote for Brook Willeford for school board Position 3.
