Letter: Wright has qualities to be great mayor

Editor,

I have been working with Ronnie Wright for ten years, both as his executive assistant and as office manager. Therefore, it is as a witness that I can confirm he will be resolute in his commitment to serve our community with the same integrity he exemplifies while running his business.

In the industry of tax and accounting, Ronnie Wright is privy to sensitive and private financial information and is relied upon by his clients to maintain that privacy and to act in their best financial interest. Not only does Ronnie do those things by letter of the law, as one would expect, but because of a personal commitment to what is right.

While integrity is at the core of how Ronnie plans to serve the community of Oak Harbor, he brings additional strengths to the position of mayor. Ronnie is an incredibly intelligent individual. Yes, well educated, but I am talking about his ability to see the big picture and all the steps required to get there.

Nothing is lost on Ronnie. He has analytical skills that allow him to see the varying sides of a situation or issue, making sense of it and then deciding what approach and action will prove to yield the best possible outcome.

A leader by nature, Ronnie is also a collaborator. In my experience with him he comes to the table with ideas and answers but is interested in other opinions too. He understands the importance of partnership and teamwork. He is completely self-aware but not self-absorbed. He knows his own strengths and sees the strengths of others too: he understands how collaboration increases the odds of a great result.

Having integrity, being smart, and the qualifications on his resume make Ronnie Wright a great businessperson and boss and will make him a great mayor; but ultimately when it comes to the day-to-day with Ronnie, it is his big heart and personality that make working with him unparalleled.

Ronnie cares on a personal level for the wellbeing of his staff. He wants the best for us and is always interested in, and when needed, sympathetic to whatever else beyond work is going on in our lives. He extends friendship to his team and has a brilliant way of bringing levity to an environment that could otherwise be stressful.
