Letter: Writers should not spread misinformation

Editor,

In response to Ed Hickey’s Sept. 14 letter, his latest tirade is predictably opinionated, absent of facts and the tired ramblings of a grumpy old man. That’s what we expect of Ed (and Fred). But editor, this time he also repeats election falsehoods that have been proven in endless court decisions to be lies. Lies that undermine our democracy and faith in the constitution. Lies that are arguably treasonous.

We are all guaranteed the right to self expression but there is a line that separates sharing an opinion and spreading a lie. Editor, editorial discretion is not censorship, it’s the support and reinforcement of the First Amendment.
