LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | Hospice is a great resource

To the editor:

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, and I am writing to remind all of us that there is an incredible resource in Island, Skagit, Snohomish and San Juan counties that provides comfort, dignity and respect to all those coping with a life-limiting illness — Hospice of the Northwest.

Hospice of the Northwest helps patients and families focus on living. The hospice team provides expert medical care that treats patients and people who love them with dignity and respect. The Hospice of the Northwest team provides care to people of all ages, with any illness. They provide this care wherever a patient calls home, like private residences, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and long-term care centers.

As the president of the Hospice of the Northwest Foundation, it is my honor to guide local fundraising activities that will ensure anyone seeking hospice care has access, regardless of his or her ability to pay; that our hospice staff has the tools and technology they need; and that Hospice of the Northwest is able to offer services beyond what Medicare covers, like community grief counseling, complementary therapies and a resource library accessible through the Skagit Library system. Our foundation is dedicated to dignity in every moment of life.

If you or a loved one is facing a life-limiting illness, Hospice of the Northwest can help.
