LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | Price Johnson meets our needs

After attending last week’s candidate night in Clinton and reading about the candidates for District 1 county commissioner, I can see that many voters will continue to be puzzled about which candidate meets our needs. One candidate says he doesn’t need the county’s money and will use his pay for “advertorials” and promoting businesses. Everything seems to make this man “angry” and he says, with his business experience, he will be a CEO. Another claims to be against septic inspection requirements and will “stand on the desks of state congressmen” to get action. He also said if you want to know how he stands on the issues, just look at the Republican Party positions. One candidate has been involved in a variety of citizens’ groups for years although some of those projects are still waiting for resolution. He is also in favor of limiting access to ferries by requiring reservations. A matter of grave importance was the county’s definition of gravel to one of the candidates.

Only one of the candidates has a proven track record, accomplished under difficult circumstances, including a disruptive,

non-participating, know-nothing member of the commission. Perhaps the most important question voters should ask is, “which of these candidates will work as a team member, not a CEO, not to further their own agenda, not getting angry at the drop of a hat, but to perform the duties of their office in a calm, selfless, logical manner?”

The winning candidate should work for the citizens of the county, not for certain political groups or special interest groups. Of all the candidates, only Helen Price Johnson has the clear vision, experience, and temperament to serve as a commissioner. She will represent us all, not just a few. Re-elect Helen.
