To the editor:

The health reform bill has passed, guaranteeing all Americans health coverage. Such a wonderful concept, but it won’t work.

First of all, no government project has ever cost what was estimated. The public can expect to see the costs soar from double to triple, maybe even four times the forecasted cost. That means healthcare can cost as much as $4 trillion. Do the math.

But why worry? After all, the liberals will have more ideas on how to pay for this disaster. Legalize marijuana so it can be taxed? That will free up the police to go after the hard-drug users such as alcoholics.

Empty the prisons and save billions. Make it illegal for citizens to own guns. Of course, then only police and criminals will have guns. That would cut down on gunshot murders and give the armed criminal a chance to prey on the unarmed public. Maybe career criminals could be taxed? Check out the same plan in Australia and see how well that worked.

While the liberals are on a rant, why not guarantee universal education? All Americans would be assured of a government-paid education to include six years of college. Now, that would cost plenty.

A law requiring all citizens who drive to own a car not older than five years would stimulate the auto industry.

Let’s bring the troops home from the Middle East. That will save billions to be used to build Fortress America. The Muslim terrorists won’t be far behind.

There is an economic storm building on the horizon, but don’t worry. After all, the government can’t go broke. They own the printing press, and will just run off another trillion or so dollars.
