Berry lovers, get your pie-eating faces on for the 2009 Loganberry Festival at Greenbank Farm.

One of the biggest island summer parties of the year takes place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 25 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 26.

Music, food, wine tasting and arts and crafts booths are the main attraction at this annual event.

The farm will be filled with artisans selling hand-produced goods including sauces, candy, honey, jams and jellies, clothing, leather goods, woodworking, glass art, furniture, knitting, jewelry, weaving, paintings, pottery, sculpture, nursery plants and garden art.

Food vendors will tempt you with kettle corn, ice cream, pies, hot dogs, wraps, Thai food, blooming onions, salmon barbecue and Greek food, to name a few.

Live music is continual during the festival on the Whidbey Island Bank-sponsored stage.

On Saturday this year, folks can listen to the Randy Bradley Band, Gary Smith & Al Kaatz, the Shifty Sailors and Stan Boreson, and top off the day with a street dance sponsored by Whidbey Telecom until 7 p.m. with the Western Heroes band.

Sunday’s entertainment includes Danny Ward, Dave Draper, Swords into Plowshares, Swing Again Jazz and Janie & Joe, with Dillinger’s Clambake as the final act.

Also on the bill will be performances by the Whidbey Island Theater for Youth and Whidbey Children’s Theater.

Be sure to sign up the children for the pie-eating contests and other fun children’s activities that happen throughout the festival.

Art lovers, too, will be happy to be there.

The three resident art galleries at Greenbank Farm will have special features during the festival, as well as artist-in-action demonstrations going on continually in the main barn. Artists’ work will be for sale after the demos.

If festivals make you thirsty, you’ll be in the right place.

Twenty-two wineries will be pouring the best of the crop at Loganberry this year, complemented by refreshments for the beer-loving crowd in the Loganberry beer garden.
