Island grown Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews performs live Sunday, Aug. 5 at the South Whidbey Tilth Farmers Market, which is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vanderbilt-Mathews grew up on South Whidbey and will be a junior this fall at the University of Washington. Playing saxophone in his band, Vu-tang Clan, they shocked and impressed the audience at the Jazz Innovations series last spring with their progressive, unorthodox sound.

Market visitors can expect fresh local produce, unique arts and crafts and a grassy community gathering place with a sandbox for children and wooded walking trails.

SNAP cards are accepted and several vendors accept WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons.

The market is located at 2812 Thompson Road, off Highway 525.
