Whidbey Watershed Stewards is bringing a documentary film about one of the most influential conservation thinkers of the 20th century to Langley for a special screening next week.

“Green Fire” is the first full-length, high-definition documentary film ever made about Aldo Leopold, a legendary figure and the author of

“A Sand County Almanac,” published after his death in 1949. The movie will be presented by Whidbey Watershed Stewards at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Clyde Theatre in Langley. The documentary premiered in Seattle in October.

Estella Leopold, Aldo Leopold’s daughter and a professor emeritus at the University of Washington, will accompany the film and speak about her memories of her father.

Admission is $5 at the door. Whidbey Watershed Stewards welcomes the Whidbey Camano Land Trust, the Whidbey Institute and Transition Whidbey as event co-sponsors.
