Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is offering several opportunities to get involved this year.

WICA is seeking proposals and script suggestions from directors, artists and community members for the 2013/14 Theatre Series. For plays to be considered, submit the application at wicaonline.com; for any new plays submit a copy of the play, playwright’s resume and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to have materials returned. Deadline for Theatre Series proposals is Feb. 15.

Local Artist Series: This Series was initiated to create opportunities for local artists to perform at WICA at a low-to-no financial risk. All facility rental fees are underwritten by WICA and the Rural Characters benefit concert. Deadline for LAS application is March 15, and applications can be found at wicaonline.com.

Fast and Furious/Down and Dirty: “F2D2” is a program that supports the evolution of projects and collaborations not possible under the constraints of Main Stage programming. “Fast and Furious” allows adventurous artists and audiences to explore a variety of works such as everyday life and cultural performance, stage adaptations of texts and other materials, and the avant-garde and performance art. Proceeds from all F2D2 performances fund the lighting and sound equipment needed to finish Zech Hall. F2D2 is open to all disciplines and proposals are accepted year-round. However, only those submitted by April 1 will be included in the 2013-2014 Season brochure.

For more information on these programs, visit www.wicaonline.com or call 221-8268 or 800-638-7631. Submit materials to: Deana Duncan, Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, P.O. Box 52, Langley, WA 98260.
