“The most common problems are transposed Social Security numbers, incorrect claimants and incomplete data on stock sales,” Ewing said. “People are really gratified to get the help.”

The free program is designed for people of low or moderate incomes — of any age — and is available in Bayview, Coupeville and Oak Harbor. A total of 35 volunteers trained with the AARP/IRS will assist with preparation and e-filing of tax returns.

Tax returns are limited to the following: Form 1040; A, B, C-EZ, EIC, R; education credits; child and dependent care credits.

Assistance will be available on Tuesdays, 1 to 6 p.m. at the Oak Harbor Library; Wednesdays, 1 to 4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Coupeville; and Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m. at the Bayview Senior Center.
