A small, single-engine airplane has crashed into a bluff near Ebey’s Landing.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday. Central Whidbey Fire and Rescue, police and medic units are responding to the accident and are gathering near the site at Hill Road and Ebey Road.

A cloud of black smoke could be seen rising from the scene north of Fort Casey State Park moments after the crash.
