An Anacortes man died at Harborview Medical Center in late July following a vehicle accident that took place on North Whidbey Island, Washington State Patrol reported last week.

Bradley J. Breckenridge, 69, was backing down the Cornet Bay boat launch in a 2001 Chevy Silverado around 6:15 p.m. July 6 when the boat trailer attached to the truck began to jackknife, the state patrol reported. Breckenridge exited the vehicle to check on the trailer, and the truck rolled over his leg.

State Trooper Kelsey Harding wrote in an email that first responders applied a tourniquet to Breckenridge’s leg before he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. Breckenridge died at Harborview around three weeks after the incident.

According to an obituary in The Skagit Valley Herald, Breckenridge was a lifelong Anacortes resident and an avid lover of the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, five children, 15 grandchildren and two sisters.
