Applications sought for Island County hotel-motel tax

Island County’s Lodging and Tax Advisory Committee is accepting proposal applications for the 2017 Island County 2 percent Hotel-Motel Tax tourism promotions. The program is estimated to bring in $246,000 in lodging tax revenue that will eventually be allocated in various grants in 2017. In the past, the grants have funded roughly 20-25 proposals for Island County events, visitor centers and tourism activities.

The program is estimated to bring in $246,000 in lodging tax revenue that will eventually be allocated in various grants in 2017. In the past, the grants have funded roughly 20-25 proposals for Island County events, visitor centers and tourism activities.

The committee, a volunteer group charged with recommending which proposals will receive funding, will accept applications until Aug. 31.
