Bayview goes to the dogs for Mutt Strut

Mutt Strut had probably its biggest year ever, with 50 entrants, as costumed canines and their owners packed the courtyard near the Bayview Cash Store for the sixth annual Mutt Strut on Oct. 22.

Mutt Strut had probably its biggest year ever, with 50 entrants, as costumed canines and their owners packed the courtyard near the Bayview Cash Store for the sixth annual Mutt Strut on Oct. 22.

Conductor of Fun Jim Freeman was the emcee for the big event, and the judges included Langley Police Chief Randy Heston and Don Denman, Mr. South Whidbey.

Sasha and Natasha Sheldon, dressed as Slinky Dog and Jessie from “Toy Story,” won the best owner and dog costume category with their dog Beetee, a Yorkie who was outfitted in a Ms. Potato Head costume.

In other categories, Rocky, an Australian shepherd mix owned by Becca Blackman, won for best trick. Natalie and Lupine, a bulldog and corgi team decked out as beauty contestants, owned by Maya Kilman, won for best costume. And best celebrity costume went to Miley, a rat terrier dressed as “Miley Hilton,” owned by Megan Miller.
