A bench was recently built and dedicated to former Beverly Beach resident Ron Buzard, who died in February 2015.

The Buzard family has been in the Beverly Beach area since Ron Buzard was a child, and he moved back after grade school and college in Seattle. Most recently, he was the president of the community association and took on so many tasks, according to a press release from current president Robin Charlwood, that the board of trustees detailed a multi-page list of Buzard’s functions and tasks to make sure nothing was lost in the transition.

Made by Pat McVay, the cedar bench has several carvings of animals and sea life, with a plaque that reads “In loving memory of Ron Buzard who so generously served the Beverly Beach community.”

More than 40 families donated time, money and energy to see the bench project finished. The old-growth cedar was felled on Buzard property years ago, according to the press release, and donated by Gordy Frederickson and Diana Sandoval.

The bench was unveiled by Ron and Lori Buzard’s daughters and grandchildren, and was located in view of where he had walked his daughter down the aisle for her beach wedding.
