The Bayview Farmers Market will finish its regular season with a flurry of activities Saturday at Bayview Corner. A number of farmers will be featuring special prices on winter storage crops and most vendors will offer trick-or-treat goodies for children.

Events begin at 10 a.m. when the market opens for the final day of the regular season Oct. 29.

Vendors, many of whom will be dressed in Halloween costumes, will be selling fall fruit and produce, baked goods, food and crafts.

Other activities include Dixieland, swing, rhythm and blues and rock-and-roll selections by Locomotion (in costume), and a candy scramble for the kids at noon.

Saturday’s market will give shoppers an opportunity to stock up on vegetables that keep well in cool places (an unheated garage, a root cellar or a cool basement). Market organizers said stocking up at this time of year extends the buy-local produce season, and it’s also a time when local farmers have their biggest selection of garlic, onions, potato, squash, beets, carrots and other root vegetables.

The market will open its next regular season April 28, 2012.

Meanwhile, the Bayview Holiday Market, a four-week Saturday event at Bayview Hall, opens Nov. 26. Nearly 30 vendors will offer holiday foods, baked goods, seasonal flowers and greenery, jewelry and other artisan crafts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 17.
