Board travels to state gathering

South Whidbey School District’s board of directors will spend a few days in Bellevue with other school district directors for the Washington State School Directors Association Fall Conference on Nov. 22-24. South Whidbey will send board members Fred O’Neal, Damian Greene, Linda Racicot and Steve Scoles, Superintendent Jo Moccia, student representative Sydney Ackerman and board director-elect Rocco Gianni to the annual gathering of the WSSDA.

South Whidbey will send board members Fred O’Neal, Damian Greene, Linda Racicot and Steve Scoles, Superintendent Jo Moccia, student representative Sydney Ackerman and board director-elect Rocco Gianni to the annual gathering of the WSSDA.

The conference offers breakout sessions and seminars, as well as speakers Dr. Robert Brooks, a noted author on nurturing resilience in children; Dr. Ronald Ferguson, who will discuss how to train the next generation; former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna; who now teaches high school math in Tacoma and National Teacher-of-the-Year Jeff Charbonneau, who teaches physics and engineering at Zillah High School.

Attending the conference is expected to cost the district $3,060.
