Two Oak Harbor brothers are wanted on arrest warrants related to a Sept. 23 neck stabbing, according to court documents.

A victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was recuperating when detectives contacted him two days later.

On Monday, an Island County Superior Court judge ordered a $250,000 warrant for the arrest of 40-year-old Dedrick T. Johnson and a $100,000 warrant for the arrest of 39-year-old Timothy L. Johnson.

Prosecutors charged both men with assault in the first degree and assault in the fourth degree.

According to a report by a detective with the Island County Sheriff’s office, the stabbing occurred at a location on Rifle Road near Oak Harbor.

The two victims reported that Dedrick Johnson, Timothy Johnson and a third suspect came to the location in search of a man they thought had stolen their bag at the Am/pm store earlier in the day, according to a deputy’s report. Both of the victims spoke of the mysterious bag but didn’t say what may have been inside of it.

The two victims gave somewhat different accounts of what led up to the assault but agreed about the stabbing itself, a deputy’s report states.

The two brothers accosted the 50-year-old man they thought had taken the bag, and he fell backwards into a car. The other victim came out of a tent at the site and one of the brothers allegedly stabbed him in the neck, the report states.

The Johnson brothers and the third man then got into a car and left the scene.

The stabbing victim didn’t realize he had been stabbed until his friend saw the blood and stab wound. The friend drove him to a walk-in clinic treatment. He was later transported to the WhidbeyHealth Medical Center and then Harborview Medical Center.

A motion for a warrant states Dedrick Johnson recently completed a nine-year sentence in a California prison for burglary. He has also been convicted in Washington state of escape, trafficking in stolen property, residential burglary and theft.

If convicted of the charges against him, Dedrick Johnson could face up to 26.5 years in prison under the standard sentence range. He has an offender score of 9 because of his criminal history; an offender score increases the sentence range.

The other motion for a warrant states that Timothy Johnson has an outstanding bench warrant for felony harassment out of Island County Superior Court as well as three pending search warrants from other courts.
