“Michael Nutt Week” proclaimed

The city of Langley has proclaimed April 6 through 12 as “Michael Nutt Week.”

The popular musician and community activist passed away March 27.

Before Mayor Paul Samuelson read the proclamation to the city council members Wednesday, the council took a minute to share their favorite memories about Nutt. Councilman Russell Sparkman mentioned how welcoming Nutt was when Sparkman became involved with Whidbey Island Center of the Arts, and Councilwoman Rene Neff recalled how Nutt strutted his stuff in a glittery evening gown to win votes in the

Mr. South Whidbey Pageant, a fundraiser for Friends for Friends.

In the proclamation, Nutt was recognized as a man with a passion for the community. The proclamation also acknowledged his efforts to mentor young people with “his enthusiasm for life and modeling professionalism mixed with a dose of humor.”
