Coupeville OLF open house planned

The U.S. Navy is hosting a series of open house scoping meetings this week concerning a planned Environmental Impact Statement. The document will study the effects of the EA-18G Growler for its planned use at Outlying Field Coupeville, a small airstrip used to practice touch-and-go maneuvers.

The U.S. Navy is hosting a series of open house scoping meetings this week concerning a planned Environmental Impact Statement.

The document will study the effects of the EA-18G Growler for its planned use at Outlying Field Coupeville, a small airstrip used to practice touch-and-go maneuvers.

The open house meetings aim to gather public comments on the scope of the analysis and content being addressed in the Environmental Impact Statement.

The meetings will be held at the following locations and times from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the Oak Harbor High School Student Union, and from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Anacortes Middle School Cafeteria. The first of the series was held Tuesday, Dec. 3,  in the Coupeville High School Commons.

Deadline for public comment is Jan. 3, 2014. A copy of the scoping materials for review, and written comments can be submitted at the project website, www.whidbeyeis.com
