A special meeting set by the Port of Coupeville for Wednesday afternoon has been canceled.
Port commissioners voted at their last meeting to hold the special public meeting at 1 p.m. May 31 to discuss matters related to their pending acquisition of the A.J. Eisenberg Airport, but have since decided not to hold the meeting.
Commissioner John Mishasek said that the reason for the cancellation was that the matters the port commissioners most needed to discuss would not be resolved by Wednesday, rendering the meeting unnecessary.
Mishasek also said that the port has received an extension from the seller on its 60-day due diligence period and will not be closing on the airport this Saturday, which was its initial deadline to execute a purchase and sale agreement.
The port’s next regularly scheduled public meeting is set for 10 a.m. June 14.
