Hard to believe it’s been two years since crews thoroughly inspected the two historic bridges, but it has. Drivers should anticipate minor daytime delays on Highway 20 at the Deception Pass bridges for the next two weeks.

Beginning Monday, March 25 crews from the Washington State Department of Transportation will close one lane of the highway, and spend roughly a week inspecting each bridge.

Monday through Thursday, March 28, crews will close one lane of the Deception Pass Bridge from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday, April 1 through Thursday, April 4, crews will close one lane of the Canoe Pass Bridge from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If windy weather requires canceling any scheduled work listed above, they will work on the Friday of that week as needed, using the same closure hours, according Dave Chesson, DOT spokesman.

Flaggers will alternate traffic through the one open lane. The work must be done during the day to ensure a thorough inspection. These bridges were last inspected in March 2011.
