On Tuesday, May 29 at 10 a.m., Buffy, Badger and Honey (three dogs with varying degrees of mobility problems, including two that have no front legs) will be taken from Graham, Wash., to Whidbey Island for a very special field trip.

The dogs and their sitter will arrive at K9 Carts, a Langley company owned by Barbara Parkes that has made dog wheelchairs for the past 50 years. There, the mobility-impaired pooches will each be fitted for their own, custom-built dog wheelchairs, giving them access to a whole new healthy, happy, productive life.

Over the years, K9 Carts has donated their services to  Valhalla Dog Rescue, especially for mobility impaired pups like Buffy, Badger and Honey. The reality is, a dog that cannot get around on its own is far less likely to be adopted than one that can.

With limited resources and a budget fueled strictly from donations, Valhalla again will unite with the seasoned pros at K9 Carts to bring “a new leash on life” to some lucky dogs. To attend, contact K9 Carts at info@k9carts.com or 321-2402.
