The Central Whidbey Chamber of Commerce and the Trust Board of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve, are partnering for a unique opportunity to learn about Ebey’s Reserve, and how to connect both residents and visitors with this special place.

At Coupeville Rec Hall from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 18, participants will explore the national significance of the reserve, the history of the area and the resources it provides.

The free training is an ideal opportunity for volunteers or docents, business owners, new residents, elected officials, nonprofit employees or board members, and anyone seeking more information about the reserve.

“Supporting visitors is an integral part of sustaining this community’s economy,” said Lynda Eccles, Central Whidbey chamber director.

“If we as residents are excited about this place, the more we can inform visitors who will stay longer, spend more money and return with their friends and family.”

Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve was established in 1978 on Central Whidbey.

It was designed to preserve and protect a rural community which provides a continuous historic record from 19th-century settlement in Puget Sound to the present time.
