Extreme high tides on Whidbey Island today, Saturday

The waters surrounding Whidbey Island are experiencing unusually high tides this week, with an almost six-foot difference reported off Sandy Hook. Friday, low tide was 2.34 feet at 3:52 p.m. and high tide 8.14-feet at 10:22 p.m.

FREELAND — The waters surrounding Whidbey Island are experiencing unusually high tides this week, with an almost six-foot difference reported off Sandy Hook.

Friday, low tide returns to 2.34 feet at 3:52 p.m. and high tide, 8.14-feet at 10:22 p.m.

High tidal waters overtopped Shoreview Drive and Woodard Avenue in Freeland on Friday morning. Although just one lane of Shoreview Drive remained under water by noon, both lanes of Woodard were still beneath tide waters. The road has been closed just south of the intersection with Shoreview Drive.

On Saturday, the 9:32 a.m. high tide of 11.35 will be bracketed by a low tide of 6.28 feet at 3:03 a.m. and another at 4:46 p.m. of 1.53 feet.
