Families urgently needed to host Japanese youths

Washington State University of Island County is desperately seeking families on Whidbey Island and the surrounding area to host seven young people from Japan for three to four weeks this summer

“Washington State University of Island County is desperately seeking families on Whidbey Island and the surrounding area to host seven young people from Japan for three to four weeks this summer.Hosting begins July 29 and ends Aug. 19. Host families for the summer program need to have children of similar age and same sex as the Japanese student.The Japanese youth needing homes for three weeks are:*An 18-year-old girl with interests in tennis, cooking and music. *A 17-year-old girl with interests in camping, skiing and cooking. *A 16-year-old girl with interests in swimming, volleyball, music. *A 17-year-old boy with interests in baseball, basketball, soccer and volleyball. *A 16-year-old boy with interests in basketball, running and soccer. *A 16-year-old boy with interests in soccer, swimming and music. *A 15-year-old boy with interests in soccer, music and camping.Also being sought is a family willing to host an 18-year-old girl from the Yokohama area of Japan for the high school program, beginning in August and going through the school year. Excellent support is available all year long for this young lady. Host families need to have children of an approximate age of the placed student.Both the summer and high school programs focus on the cultural side of the exchange.
