Ferry Steilacoom to undergo additional repair work tomorrow

Washington State Ferries officials announced today that sailings on the Keystone-Port Townsend route will be halted starting Wednesday night so repairs can be made on the ferry Steilacoom II’s auxiliary generators.

WSF said the generators will be rebuilt and the 50-car ferry will be back in service on Friday morning, Nov. 6.

Officials warn that the route may not go back into service if more extensive work is needed on the ferry.

Service was cancelled on the route last week, from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday, due to the failure of one of two auxiliary generators on the vessel.
