Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County will present the sixth Annual Festival of Trees gala and auction this week in Langley.

This year’s festival will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Useless Bay Golf & Country Club. Tickets are $85 per person.

The entertaining formal event, featuring uniquely decorated trees and wreaths, benefits children in the community and gives them the chance to be matched in one-to-one relationships with positive role models through the nonprofit organization.

Other highlights in this year’s auction include a full collection of South Whidbey artist Georgia Gerber’s popular holiday pewter figurines, which have been released one-by-one over the past dozen holiday seasons. The winning bidder will also be included in the annual holiday offering in future years.

Other art includes a Deon Matzen original, a Sharon Spencer statue and a set of antique hand-colored prints and more. Also on the auction block: fun getaways, a luxurious “Girls Night Out” and a chance to have a meal prepared by and dine with an Oscar-winner and his golden statuette. The Festivals of Trees is a community celebration designed to brighten the holiday season while brightening the futures of children in the community, organizers said. All funds go directly to children’s services.
