Festival presents holiday concert on South Whidbey

The Whidbey Island Music Festival presents its first holiday concert this weekend.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at St. Augustine’s in-the-woods, 5217 S. Honeymoon Bay Road, Freeland.

The festival will features baroque and classical chamber music from repertoire ranging from Monteverdi to Beethoven. The holiday concert includes baroque Christmas music from Biber’s Annunciation sonata, a pastorella by Schmelzer, Boddecker’s Hodie Natus Jesu, Stephen Foster and Christmas carols.

Musicians include Catherine Webster, soprano, Tekla Cunningham and Brandon Vance on baroque violins, Maxine Eilander on baroque harp, and Stephen Stubbs on baroque lute and guitar.

Tickets cost $20 for advanced purchase at brownpapertickets.com or $25 at the door, children are free.
