“Griefwalker” is a new film from the National Film Board of Canada. This one-hour documentary is an extraordinary portrait of Stephen Jenkinson’s work with dying people. It is not a movie about dying, nor is it a movie about how to survive death. It is a movie about how people might thrive in a life experience that, because of the culture they live in, seduces them towards survivalism and endurance instead. Survivalism assumes without question that dying is trauma; the assumption of thriving is that the trauma comes from the refusal to die and to know death well.

Following the film, Jenkinson will lead a discussion about how glimpsing the end of our loves and ultimately our life could and should be the real birth of our love of life. View the trailer at http://nfb.ca/film/griefwalker-trailer.

Admission is $12 at the door.

Jenkinson will also offer a workshop at a future date to be announced.
