Fingerprints lead to suspect

Fingerprints led police to a suspect in the burglary of a South Whidbey home, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Dillon J. Tresslar, 29, in Island County Superior Court Oct. 10 with residential burglary.

The owner of a vacation home in Langley reported to police Jan. 18 that friends who were staying at the house discovered it had been burglarized. The burglar had broken a window and left partially eaten containers of Kraft macaroni and cheese and alcohol bottles behind.

An investigator with the Island County Sheriff’s Office collected fingerprints off a bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila and a Coke can. The latent prints were sent to the state crime lab, which returned results on Sept. 29. The crime lab report identified the fingerprints as belonging to Tresslar, the police report states.

Tresslar’s address in court papers was called a “drug house” by police. It is located in the Sun Vista Circle neighborhood of Clinton.

In another case, prosecutors charged Tresslar July 11 with trafficking in stolen property and theft in the third degree. He was accused of stealing copper wire from a warehouse near Langley and then selling it for recycling in Mukilteo for $140, according to the police report.

In a third case, Tresslar was arrested June 21 driving a car that had been stolen from the Deer Lake Road park and ride, court papers say.
