Woodland owners can learn how to protect their trees from diseases and insect attacks, enhance wildlife habitat and care for their land at Whidbey Island Forest Field Day in September.

The event is sponsored by Washington State University Extension in partnership with the  Washington Department of Natural Resources and the Whidbey Island Conservation District. The field day is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 and will feature a variety of hands-on, outdoor workshops taught by forest experts from around the state.

The field day will be held at the McKee property at 1300 S. Grateful Acre Place, off Houston Road south of Coupeville.

Gates open at 9 with workshops beginning hourly at 10 a.m. Small-scale sawmill and equipment demonstrations will be throughout the day.
