Anderson was selected for the scholarship based on his academic achievements, co-curricular involvement, service and leadership, as well as his potential to affect positive change and leadership in the life of the university, according to a press release.

There were over 600 highly qualified applications who applied for the academic and leadership scholarship this year. Students must have a 3.8 GPA or higher or 1250 and above SAT score (critical reading and math only) or 28 and above ACT score to be eligible to apply.

Anderson, a state and regional level competitive swimmer, is currently a running start student at the Ocean Research College Academy (ORCA) at Everett Community College. He will graduate June 10 with both a high school diploma and a two-year, direct transfer Associate of Arts and Sciences degree. He plans to study Applied Physics and swim for the Lutes.
