Freeland-based Arise Charitable Trust awards $145,000 in scholarships, grants | NOTABLE

Arise Charitable Trust distributed nearly $145,000 in scholarship and grant money at its May funding session, the organization recently announced. Educational grants totaling $110,500 were awarded to South Whidbey women, and $33,600 was awarded to char­itable nonprofit organizations which assist women. The grant awards were made by the allocation committee.

The Freeland-based Arise Charitable Trust was established by an anonymous donor in December 1986. It aims to provide financial assistance to women who wish to meet their full potential in life but need a helping hand, such as those who want to attend college or another accredited learning program, teachers seeking to obtain a master’s degree, and organizations that support women.

Individual scholarships were awarded to: Brianne Arnold, Madeline Barker, Lennox Bishop, Macey Bishop, Madison Boyd, Cayla Calderwood, Hannah Calderwood, Morgan Davis, Odessa Donohoe, Isla Dubendorf, Ramona Emerson, Amara Garibyan, Lacey Greene, Colleen Groce, Katie Haugen, Tegan Hidde,  Grace Houck, Sara Hutchinson-Puckett, Angelica Janda, Lillian Kaiser-Schmidt, Sophia Larson-Wickman, Joellyn Leffler, Vanessa Link, Anna Lynch, Chelsea Matthews-Jensen, Mariah Matzen, Jeannie Mayotte, Rohini Mikkelsen, Martha Mulholland, Lindsay Nakamura,  Hanna Nielson, Faith O’Brochta, Sarah Parker, Callula Patterson, Rosalena Portillo,  Danielle Potter, Tess Radisch, Madeline Remmen, Spring Roehm,  Roslyn Schoeler, Grace Swanson, Krislynn Wells, Hannah Whitcomb, Chantal White.

Organizations that received grants include: Citizen’s Against Domestic Abuse or CADA, the Crisis and Advocacy Program, and Skagit Valley College’s Women in Transition program.
