The winner of Whidbey Telecom’s 2016-17 Directory Cover Art Competition was recently announced as Freeland resident Greg Thomas.

His original photograph, “Reflecting on Sunrise, Holmes Harbor,” will be featured on the directory to be published in November.

The competition’s 2016 judging panel was headed by Whidbey Telecom’s chairwoman Marion Henny and co-CEO Julia DeMartini. Two independent members of the art community, Windwalker Taibi of Raven Rocks Art Studio and last year’s cover artist Govinda Rosling, also judged the entries.

“We want to extend our appreciation to all the artists and photographers who submitted their work for consideration in this year’s competition,”  DeMartini said.

Thomas will receive $500 and his photograph will be featured on the cover of approximately 15,000 telephone directories throughout South Whidbey, Hat Island and Point Roberts.

Directories are typically mailed to Whidbey Telecom subscribers in early November.
