Several community nonprofits are starting the new year in celebration.

Coldwell Banker Tara Properties Community Fund made year-end donations to all three island food banks, Helping Hand, the Senior Center, the Readiness to Learn Foundation and Big Brothers and Sisters of Island County.

The community fund is celebrating 20 years of giving in 2014.

Over the years, the fund has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars back to the community in scholarships and donations to nonprofits as well as occasional donations to families who have had house fires or faced other devastating crises, according to a news release.

Every year scholarships are given to high school seniors in North, South and Central Whidbey, and a number of island nonprofits are given donations.
