Adding to a string of scheduled food business seminars, Goosefoot will host a two-day workshop next month featuring Sarah Masoni, product development manager for the Food Innovation Center in Portland, Ore.

Food Entrepreneurship: A to Z will provide an overview of all facets of starting and operating a food business, including market niches (industrial, food service, retail, consumer-direct), processing options (commercial kitchen, shared use kitchen, co-packer), converting recipes from small to large amounts, sustainable and profitable pricing, packaging and labeling, shelf-life/food safety, and marketing strategies, from research and public relations to social media.

The workshop is 1-5 p.m. Monday, June 13 and 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, June 14 at the historic Sears House, 2812 Meinhold Road in Langley.

Affiliated with Oregon State University Extension, The Food Innovation Center (FIC) is a resource for client-based product and process development, packaging engineering and shelf-life studies, and consumer sensory testing. Masoni is a senior faculty research assistant and food product development team manager at the FIC, and works with food entrepreneurs to help them determine their next steps for success, according to a recent news release.

Tickets cost $45, and pre-registration is required. A lunch is included. Make checks payable to Goosefoot and mail to PO Box 114, Langley, WA 98260. Call Marian Myszkowski at 360-321-4145 or email her at marian@goosefoot.org for more information.
