The summer training session for HOPE Therapeutic Riding Center will be this week.

HOPE provides individuals who are facing physical, emotional, learning, social or behavioral limitations the opportunity to “grab the reins of life” through horse riding.

Volunteers can be age 14 and older, and needn’t have experience with horses, said HOPE director Karen Newman.

“All we ask is that you help our riders discover their abilities,” she said.

The training session will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, at the Island County Fairgrounds in Langley.

HOPE’s summer session will begin Tuesday, June 8, with classes on Tuesdays in Coupeville and Thursdays in Langley.

Volunteers unable to participate in the summer session are still welcome to attend the training to prepare for future sessions, Newman said.

Volunteers are also invited to help with HOPE’s garage-sale fundraiser Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29.
