South Whidbey Fire/EMS will have some more money for its operations next year. The fire and emergency response district had its $3 million budget approved by the fire commissioners at a special meeting Nov. 27. It was the seventh revision of the budget, which was dually prepared by Fire Chief Rusty Palmer — one with the increased levy funds, one without.

Voters approved the 15-cent levy increase with a 58 percent majority. The levy lift bumped the valuation to 76 cents per $1,000 of property value. Fire district officials have a list of deferred station maintenance and engine repairs they plan to tend to with the funding.
