Island County commissioners seek fill-in BOE members

The board renders decisions on taxpayer petitions for property tax equalization and consists of five members, two of whom are alternates. Members are appointed by the county commissioners to serve three-year terms.

Meetings are usually held at the Courthouse in Coupeville, with periodic hearings scheduled on Camano Island. All qualified applicants must be county residents, and can be neither a holder of public office nor an employee of any elected official, and may not have been employed by the Island County Assessor within the previous two years.

Training is required for newly appointed members; they earn $100 per day during active service.
