Island Transit tax increase picks up more votes

Island Transit’s proposal for a sales tax increase is still passing by a 54-45 percent difference, according to today’s vote tally from Island County elections staff.

The measure is passing with 12,963 “yes” votes to 10,768 “no” votes. There were 498 “yes” votes added to the earlier tally, and 436 “no” votes added.

Dean Enell and Chris Jerome continue to lead in the three-way primary race for the Langley seat on the board of commissioners for the Port of South Whidbey.

Enell has 37 percent (526 votes), Jerome has 34 percent (486 votes) and Herb Helsel, 28 percent (408 votes).
