Kalakala Co Mercantile, a shop and animation studio in Langley, is moving to a new location next weekend.

The business is setting up shop at 138 Second St., the space formerly occupied by Sweet Mona’s, which recently moved to a larger space on the other side of the street earlier this summer.

Shop owners and animators Drew Christie and Amanda Moore are recent transplants to South Whidbey following successful and ongoing careers in animation.

A grand opening of the new store is planned for 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20. Building upon the success of their previous location in Langley Village, just across the street, Kalakala will continue to serve handmade products for the kitchen, pantry, home and body, as well as art. There will also be coffee, craft beer and snacks for sale. According to a news release, 70 percent of the goods in the store are from the Pacific Northwest and 100 percent are American made.
