With the funds secured, the South Whidbey School District is planning a kickoff for almost $686,000 of energy improvements.
Jo Moccia, the district superintendent, officially reported that South Whidbey had received a grant from the state education office. More than $1 million worth of work will be done to improve heating, lighting and other operational and maintenance features of the district’s facilities.
The event is planned for May 3, with more details to be announced later. All of the work is expected to begin by the summer.
