Their father had stopped to get gas at the Bayview Exxon, and they got out of the car to walk around. Then we saw this tiny kitten, all alone, Ariel said. The sister and brother picked up the kitten and looked for its owner, but no one there claimed it. So they took it inside and asked the clerk at the counter, where they had more luck. An earlier customer had left a number to call if anyone found a lost kitten. When Eli and Ariel came out of the store, they reported that someone was on his way to reclaim his pet.Nick Spencer arrived a few minutes later, driving from Deer Lake. He accepted the kitten — named Derek — gratefully.I opened the car door just a tiny bit to go in and pay for my gas, and the kitten just streaked out, he said. We looked all over for it. I’m really happy to have it back.Eli and Ariel relinquished their furry friend with a bit of reluctance but happy that the kitten was going home. We’re getting our own kitten, they said. “
